The Rammed Earth

Tonight CJ and I listened to The Rammed Earth play. It was awesome and we had a great time visiting with our friends. For those of you who don't know, Sean (CJ's lifelong friend and Kendra's husband) is the lead singer of this band and they are really great. The venue was really cozy which was nice and gave us front row seats to hearing our very talented friend play. Here is a link to the band's myspace page....

Happy Birthday Kendra!

Happy Birthday today to my best friend Kendra! Kendra is an amazing person and such a great friend. She has been my closest friend and confidant for the past decade. She is amazing, and I can tell you that I've never seen her in a bad mood. She always has this huge smile on her face and is ready to joke around. What I love most about her is that she is very sincere and real. I've never met anyone who doesn't just love to be around her. She makes ordinary things very fun. She truly celebrates life and I love being a part of her life.

Every year I forget her birthday. This year I wished her a Happy Birthday on Wednesday when today was actually her birthday. She was so sweet to let me figure out my mistake on my own and didn't take the opportunity to make fun :) Although I am forgetful about her special day, that is no indication of how much I care for her. I love her so dearly and cherish the friendship we have. Here's to many more birthdays, and many more decades with you in my life my dear friend!

My Project

This week I have begun thinking out and planning what we are going to do with our basement. Currently we don't have a good TV/Entertainment setup in the house and I think that we've determined that the basement is going to be the place. The previous owners painted the walls this orangy-sherbety color which will have to go soon. And eventually this mauve-blue carpet will be replaced with something more modern.

So this photo is my inspiration for what our basement will look like 'after' the transformation. I'm on a search for a used or good deal sectional and will take my time getting all of the accessories. I'm really excited about the project and hope to have it completed by summer.

Productive Saturday

So I have high hopes for this weekend. This is supposed to be the weekend that we finally get ALL of the laundry done, get the house in order and organized...and fit in enough rest to feel refreshed on Monday. Last night we were so exhausted from the week that we fell asleep while attempting to watch a movie downstairs. This morning we slept in a little, got some yummy McDonalds breakfast, and now the three of us have gone our separate ways on a mission. CJ is downstairs attempting to get some major work done.
His project has some big deadlines this weekend, so he is 'caved up' downstairs with his pc. Bachelor on the other hand is wandering around spending equal time with CJ (getting pets if he nudges him just right), spending time looking out the window in the living room at the birds, and visiting me while I do the laundry.

Laundry! My "six mounds" have been reduced to what you see here. So I am going to do my best to have the laundry room cleared out by end of day. And then tonight my reward is getting to spend the night with my Mom. Oh yeah, one more thing... we just got a call from someone who wants to look at our other house today. So I'll be driving out there in an hour or two to show it. Cross your fingers :)

And that is about it. Nothing too exciting, but hopefully this will be quite the productive Saturday.

One year of blogging

The Sweigartspot has officially hit it's one year anniversary. When I initially started blogging I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to keep this thing going for a few weeks much less a whole year. I am so happy to still be blogging and to have this online journal that has kept a record of our lives for the previous year. I have to say that I am now addicted to this blogging thing and will be hopefully keeping this going for years. The only occasional problem is that I find it hard sometimes to write about interesting aspects of our lives...and the problem is that life is well, not always interesting. But here's to one year of blog posts and hopefully another to come!

Since returning from Grandma Buster's "celebration of life" service in Seattle, I feel like we've been just struggling to keep our head above water. We've been feeling very busy and overwhelmed with just the simplest tasks. Take for example my 6 mounds of laundry. It has been so difficult to motivate myself to come to work each day much less catch up on chores. So I am hoping for this upcoming weekend to be a gigantic laundry/getting caught up fest! And then maybe with that behind me, I can think of some great new blog posts too :)
