Buster

I looked down at the calendar today and noticed that today is January 22, which is the anniversary of when we lost our Grandma Buster last year. I've thought about her a lot over the year and have really missed her. Everytime I think about her, this is the picture that I remember the most. She had the best smile and had an infectious laugh. And I remember feeling at her beautiful memorial service that she had made a great impact on everyone in her life.
Although it just isn't right to not have her in our lives at this moment, I like to think that her legacy continues to live on in the Sweigarts. CJ and I miss her dearly and are honoring her memory today by talking about our favorite Buster moments.
And to our family that is hurting today because of the loss, CJ and I would like to give you a long distance e-hug. If you are comfortable doing so, please add a comment to this post and share one of your favorite Buster memories with us.
We love and miss you dearly Buster!

Candace and CJ, thank you for "honoring" my mom by your photo and comments on your blog. It definitely was a bittersweet moment to see her photo, and realize again how much I miss her.
Georgia (dad), Aunt Becky, Aunt Alison and I toasted Buster yesterday morning at brunch, and all of us (except Alison who had to work) later walked around Volunteer Park in Seattle, and as it was so cold, we stopped at an independent coffee shop for hot chocolate, tea and cookies (for Georgia:). As we were sitting at the counter, drinking our cocoa/tea and looking out at people walking by on the street, Dad said, "this is something your mom would have enjoyed doing". And that's the truth -- she loved new experiences, and meeting new people, and wondering what the stories were of the people walking by.
Love you two!

I was thinking about Mrs. Sweigart today too. How fast this year has gone and how seeing the rest of the family had been nice, even in such circumstances. I remembered her and Mr. Sweigart's trip down here to Vegas the prior year and how much fun I had with them both. Sometimes, when the storms come, we just have to learn to dance in the rain. My own family is in a storm now and during the stormy times it is good to remember the good people in our lives. Mrs. Sweigart was one of the good ones. One that, along with Mr. Sweigart, Rob, Craig, Scott, Becky, Wendy and Alison are etched into the movies that play in my head and make life the good book that it is. I miss her too. Even though time and distance created a huge gap, she will always be significant to me.

Candance,
It was great seeing about Fran on your blog and it was nice that people think about her so much.
Love,
Georgia
Thank you Candace for using your talents (again) to allow our family and friends to share their thoughts and feelings from all over the country. I wish I could have been in Seattle with the family on Thursday to share a tear and a laugh - but this is the next best thing! I love you Mom and I miss you!
