Back to Boise Life
This time last week, we were sailing the high seas of the pacific and I was getting cabin fever because it had been days since I had seen land. Now I feel cabin fever because it has been days since I've seen that beautiful ocean and my wonderful LA family. :)
We had such a fabulous trip. In fact, we had such a great time that I completely abandoned the blog once we got to Maui. I've got a few make-up posts and pictures to post so that I can complete the rest of our trip posting on the SweigartSpot and I hope to get to that sometime soon.
To be honest, the adjustment back into our regular every day life didn't go quite as smoothly as it should have. My mom calls it "post-vacation coma" and I definitely had some sort of this going on this week. When we arrived in Boise it was FREEZING and although I was well relaxed and ready to come home, it felt like a rude awakening. Our living room currently looks like our suitcases exploded in the middle of them and we're slowly trying to regain some organization. And slowly but surely, I'm finding myself readjusting to life as usual. :) Luckily we have the weekend to finish recouping ahead of us.
On Tuesday this week we returned to our regular work schedules and on Wednesday I was scheduled to give a talk/presentation to current Boise State University IT students for a "Learning from alumni forum". It was great and it was good to get the opportunity to speak in front of 100 people but definitely made me realize that it is probably time for me to practice my public speaking skills. I was a little nervous and hope that it didn't show too badly. I also learned that no matter how beautiful or cute a pair of shoes are, I will NOT wear them if they hurt my feet. :) After my presentation, I could barely walk out to my car, my high heel shoes hurt so bad! I'm swearing off cute but painful shoes forever now.
Wednesday night we caught up on all of the new TV show premieres we missed (The Office, FlashForward) and had a nice evening of sitting on the couch just relaxing. Out of guilt for having left Bachelor for nearly two weeks, we let him hop up on the couch with us and the three of us cuddled with plenty of blankies and snacks. It was perfect!
On Thursday night things started to get back to normal for us. We took Bachelor out to the foothills for an evening trail hike and it was so exhilarating. I realized how much I really missed physical activity and nature hikes while we were on that ship. The weather is really becoming quite cold, but the smell of Fall is in the air and our trees are becoming just beautiful with the Fall colors.
Also, here are some pictures I've been meaning to post...
